THE
TEAM
As a new lab of the institute we are lucky to build the one of the precise pratical lab for research. RPM Lab having good precision dso's , MIcrogrid prototype and licenced softwares. our lab is encouraged to learn the new softwares and programming related to real life applications. Dr. K. Ramachandra sekhar monitor the Lab progress who is having industry exposure to help the researchers build the new level of applications for our future grid system, his guidance help us to learn the new things in our research and building the lab.

My primary focus on
1. Design and implementation of high energy density power converters for renewable grid/micro grid integration and electric drive (vehicle) application.
2. Implementation of linear and non linear control techniques for the power converters
3.Power quality assessments and implementation of power quality enhancement methodologies.
4. EMC/EMI analysis of high frequency power converters.

As we know that in India, weak grid scenario is very common problem in distribution level. So integrating renewable energy with weak grid is a challenging task in terms of power quality and control. So currently I am working towards renewable(solar) energy integration with weak utility grid and Micro-grid.I am developing different control algorithm to harness maximum energy available with source and deliver it to the load by meeting the requirement of IEEE standards in terms of power quality.

Mahesh Reddy Pundru
I am currently working on "Evaluation of Regenerative braking methods of different control methods for electric drives" where different PWM techniques are being incorporated for motor control. I am also working on "Grid interfaced solar water pumping system".

Amol Ishwarrao Gedam
Academically, I am interested in research, specifically in power electronics. I’d like my career to revolve around power electronics converter and its control, which I fondly call “Energy harvester of renewable system”. One of the renewable energy source is solar energy. The Earth receives 174 petawatts (PW) of incoming solar radiation (insolation) at the upper atmosphere. Approximately 30% is reflected back to space while the rest is absorbed by clouds, oceans and land masses. To use this energy as a useful electrical energy we require efficient power electronic converter which can convert it into standard specified by grid and inject in grid. My research interest is in designing the DC-AC converters (Inverters) and analysis of DC link to minimize DC link ripple.

Aakriti Gupta, MS
After spending over two years at IIT Ropar in MS(R), I realized my concrete interest lies in study of emissions and ways to reduce Electromagnetic Interference. Addressing Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)/ Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) issues is a growing prerequisite for all kinds of systems as almost every product or technology used today is designed with a power converter. I am very driven in this area of research. I think providing EMC/EMI filtering and complaint designs for high power converters will broaden our horizons. I have used Auto CAD & Solidworks, MATLAB Simulink, Proteus & ANSYS Simplorer, Q3D, Maxwell and HFSS for designing, modelling and simulations and developed fair knowledge of these tools. Along with these, I am keen on learning more tools like DSP & FPGA. After reading various literature and working on hardware, I found EMC/EMI is a novel and a significant area to work on.

Satish Saini, M.Tech
I have worked on " fully protected T type multilevel grid connected inverter with DDSRF PLL and soft start " and trying to generate a code for DSP 28335 in which all thing are covers up such as coding of all type of protection ( mainly islanding protection) , soft start code and code for SVPWM pulse generation for all 12 switches with DDSRF PLL.

I am Mohit kumar completed my M.Tech. in Power Engg. Research: I have worked on control of 3 phase induction to use all 4 quadrant and produce a better regenerative braking by using different techniques such as scalar control by spwm, svpwm, 30° 60° clamping , Direct torque control
